A visit to the MUSA is not to be missed in Salò. The MuSa consists of numerous sections, dedicated to art history and archaeology, science and technology, and the CSR. Also part of the MUSA is the Santa Giustina monastery complex, which houses part of the collections of the Fondazione Museo Storico del Nastro Azzurro.

An all-Gardaesque gem is located in Gardone Riviera thanks to the patient collection of its founder, Mrs. Hiky Mayr of German origin, who has dedicated many years of her life to researching, collecting and restoring sculptures depicting the Infant Jesus: The Museum of the Divine Infant. A poetic museum, not to be missed during the Christmas holidays. www.il-bambino-gesu.com

The Casa del Podestà in Lonato del Garda was purchased at a public auction in 1906 by the then lawyer and liberal MP Ugo Da Como. The latter, aware of the historical importance of the place, had it completely "restored" and today it houses a veritable "library house" with a collection of about 50,000 volumes that can be counted among the most important private collections in northern Italy. It is part of a monumental complex of extraordinary beauty, dominated by the grandiose Visconti-Venetian fortress.

The MARTES in Calvagese della Riviera is a private museum housing an important 18th century Venetian collection. The Sorlini Collection, in fact, precisely reflects the interests of 'Signor Luciano' its founder.

Finally, the 'Giovanni Rambotti' Archaeological Museum in Desenzano del Garda is also of great interest. Rambotti was the first to recognise the scientific and archaeological value of the prehistoric finds in the southern area of Lake Garda and collected artefacts dating back to a period between the Palaeolithic and the Middle Ages. Following the inscription of the sites in the UNESCO heritage list, the exhibition was enriched with new materials. ( photos by Galeazzi and Maraschina). The most important exhibit in the museum is undoubtedly the wooden plough dating back to the Bronze Age and, to date, the oldest in the world.
